Mr. S. M. Akram Sayeed is a seasoned professional renowned for his exemplary track record in the banking industry. His extensive expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, ranging from strategic planning and IT operations to meticulous risk assessment and unwavering adherence to regulatory compliance. Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Sayeed has consistently showcased remarkable leadership qualities and an unflagging dedication to achieving excellence within the banking sector.
Mr. Sayeed embarked on his professional journey in 1988, and by 1991, he had successfully transitioned into the esteemed IT Division of Arab Bangladesh Bank Ltd. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in spearheading a sweeping initiative—the comprehensive computerization of branches throughout the nation.
In August 2010, under Mr. Sayeed’s visionary leadership, he orchestrated the pioneering launch of ‘Trust Mobile Money’ at Trust Bank Limited—a groundbreaking endeavor that reshaped the landscape of mobile banking services in Bangladesh. His astute supervision ensured the rapid deployment of this transformative project to all Trust Bank branches.
In July 2007, with Mr. Sayeed at the helm, Trust Bank Ltd. introduced Islamic Banking and seamlessly implemented Islamic Banking Software. Furthermore, he took pride in serving as an esteemed member of the Shariah Council from the inception of Islamic Banking at Trust Bank.
In March 2006, Mr. Sayeed championed the introduction of Online Centralized Banking at Trust Bank Ltd. Overseeing the meticulous migration process, he masterfully transitioned all branches while introducing a host of innovative services, including ‘Phone Banking,’ ‘SMS Banking,’ and ‘Internet Banking.’
Further expanding his purview, in December 2005, Mr. Sayeed played a pivotal role in the introduction of the TBL Debit Card at Trust Bank. He established the Card Division within the IT Division and provided unwavering leadership from its inception. Under his stewardship, the division successfully attained VISA membership and introduced TBL VISA Credit cards, catering to both domestic and international audiences in 2007.
Beyond his exceptional professional achievements, Mr. Sayeed’s journey commenced at St. Joseph’s High School in Khulna, where he actively participated in a plethora of sports, including football, basketball, and cricket during his formative schooling years. He furthered his education, ultimately achieving a Master of Business Administration (MBA) to complement his illustrious career in the banking sector.
